Project Overview
Shakespeare in the Park is a series of outdoor performances showcasing the work of Shakespeare. Twelfth Night, my assigned play, is a comedy with many poignant themes throughout such as disguise, deception, love, and ambition. After reading the play, students were to find visual solutions to across many facets of visual marketing: a poster, tickets, social media, and web banners.
Problems
✗ Consistent visuals across multiple destinations
✗ Accurate and legible treatment of copy
Solutions
✓ Visual consistency demonstrated through illustration and color palette
✓ expanded leading and type contrast
Component One: Poster
There were a few illustrations that directly referenced themes in the story. The cross-gartered legs are a reference the character of Malvolio, who introduces comedy elements by wearing “cross-gartered yellow stockings.” An additional element that is a common theme in the play are letters from secret sources. Throughout the play, letters are passed to and from almost every character, they play a large role in moving the story along. Using the same illustration methods as the cross-gartered legs, I created envelopes that direct eye-movement across the many different size of elements through the project.

Component Two: Tickets
When creating the ticket component of the project, my goal was to create two contrasting designs to highlight each illustrative element and theme color.

Component Three: Online Presence
Utilizing the “floating” elements
